Held on the 3rd Saturday of February each year and attracting some 3,000 people from all over the world, the Koonya Garlic Festival is the Tasman Peninsula’s most iconic event.
A unique and original Tasman experience celebrating the joy of garlic, the food it flavours, and the music and arts that it inspires. The Koonya Garlic Festival is the longest running Garlic Festival in Australia and the first in Tasmania, and is one of Tasmania’s most anticipated harvest festival celebrations.
Important focuses for the festival include the promotion of sustainability and education. The Koonya Garlic Festival is a not-for-profit organisation supporting amateur and commercial garlic growers throughout Tasmania. Our role is to attract growing numbers of passionate garlic lovers, foodies and gardeners from throughout Tasmania and beyond while keeping the quirky and family event feel. We aim to provide an opportunity for the local community to join together while we showcase the Peninsula as a place that is complemented by arts and culture, engaging with some of Tasmania and Australia’s most celebrated gardening and culinary experts.
